Johan de Flines was born on 8 July 1965 in the Netherlands.
He graduated in Law at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1990. He has been registered as a lawyer with the Bar of Rotterdam (“Advocaat”) from 1993 to 2018 and with the Bar of Milan since 1996, first as a ‘Registered Foreign Lawyer’ and since 2006 as a lawyer (“Avvocato”).
After graduation, he worked in Italy in the banking sector, for the Bank of Rome. Later he embarked on his career in Rotterdam at the Trenité van Doorne law firm, by that time one of the largest law firms in the Netherlands, offering judicial and extrajudicial assistance mainly to Italian companies operating in the Netherlands. Back in Milan 1996, he permanently started working as a lawyer at the Toffoletto law firm, specifically alongside Professor Alberto Toffoletto dealing with commercial law and lawyer Franco Toffoletto dealing with employment matters.
At the end of 1999, he founded the law and tax firm MDM with offices both in Milan and in Florence and is currently still working with them as of counsel.
In 2018 he founded ADF & Partners, with offices in Largo Augusto 7, situated in the heart of the center of Milan. To date, having gained significant experience in Italian law, he deals with commercial law issues, ranging from litigation to cross border transactions such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, liquidations but also all aspects of employment law, tort liability, transport law and real estate. He provides judicial and extrajudicial support mainly to foreign entrepreneurs as well as to wealthy foreign citizens determined to conquer or retain their place on the Italian market or in its territory. He is one of the founding members of DBLA (www.dbla.nl), a worldwide network of qualified Dutch lawyers who are admitted to practice in the country where they have their office. He speaks fluently Italian, Dutch, and English and has a fair knowledge of German and French.
